FEE GUIDE
eBay seller fees, worked out
Most eBay sales pay one final value fee: a percentage of the whole order, plus a small fee per order. Here is the standard rate, what it is charged on, and what you keep at four common prices.
The rate is eBay’s published standard rate, checked October 16, 2026 on eBay, Selling fees. Fees change, so check that page before you rely on a number. This is a guide to a platform’s fees, not tax or accounting advice.
The fee
13.6% of the total sale, plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 when the order is $10.00 or less). The total amount of the sale, which includes shipping and any sales tax, up to $7,500 per item; 2.35% on the part above $7,500. Most categories, no store subscription.
What you keep at common prices
What is left of the sale price and the shipping the buyer paid, after the platform’s fee and before your label and what the item cost you.
| Sale price | How it sold | Fee | Left after the fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| $12.00 | Shipped, buyer paid $5.00 shipping | $2.71 | $14.29 |
| $25.00 | Shipped, buyer paid $6.00 shipping | $4.62 | $26.38 |
| $50.00 | Shipped, buyer paid $8.00 shipping | $8.29 | $49.71 |
| $100.00 | Shipped, buyer paid $10.00 shipping | $15.36 | $94.64 |
Worth knowing
- The rate for most categories went from 13.25% to 13.6% on February 14, 2025. A sale before then paid the older rate.
- The total the fee is charged on includes the sales tax the buyer pays. The examples leave tax out, so in a state with sales tax the real fee is a little higher.
- Some categories, such as trading cards, use a different rate, and a store subscription lowers most rates.
- A Promoted Listings fee is a separate line when a promoted item sells. It is not in these examples.
- On a single item over $7,500, the part above $7,500 is charged 2.35%.
